The peppertree is native to Brazil and Peru. It grows to 40' tall and is used widely as a street tree in California. The leaves are feather-shaped, alternate, evergreen and 9" long. Red 1/4" berries occur in the fall and are used as Christmas decorations.

Grains are prolate to spheroidal; the amb triangular with convex sides and 3-colporate or occasionally brevicolpate to porate. The colpi are typically long and narrow and the sexine is often striate.
Pollen grains are generally 25-30 micrometers.
